Turkey Breeds in the Homesteader's Delight Collection

Are the turkey's heritage or meat?

The Homesteader's Delight collection includes a hatchery choice of breeds. The turkey poults may be any of the turkey breeds we offer, which may include heritage or hybrid turkey breeds in the assortment.

Age of Birds Upon Arrival

How old are the layers when they arrive?

All the birds in the Homesteader's Delight package are newly hatched babies. You will receive two turkeys, two ducklings, two goslings, and ten female baby chickens. All the babies will need to stay under a heat lamp for 4-6 weeks. We advise placing the goslings and ducklings in a separate brooder from the turkeys and chickens.

Breed Requests for Geese

Can we ask for a particular breed of geese like the Roman Tufted?

All breeds included in the Homesteader's Delight are hatchery choice. We are unable to request specific breeds in any of our assortments. If you want a specific breed, we suggest ordering individually.

They are newly hatched babies. The shipping and handling is approximately $16.00. They will be available in the Spring.

Hi, my husband ordered me the "Homesteaders Delight" for Christmas. We live in Eastern Idaho at 6000' and we are off the grid, so we don't have a lot of options for heating the young birds for very long. Is there any way you can delay shipping until May when they will be able to withstand the weather sooner? I'm afraid I'll have to cancel my order if possible if shipping can't be delayed. This shouldn't be a problem since it appears you have a waiting list! Please let me know what my options are. Thanks, Georgie Stanley (ordered by Brian Charette)

please explain "straight run"

Straight run means "as hatched". They have not been seen by the sexers.

can all of the birds be in the same 30X40 fenced area?

The different types of poultry technically require different feeds so it depends on your setup.

They are available in the Spring. Orders for next season can be placed in December. Any assortments are of our choice of breeds.

We cannot add any birds to the Homesteader's Delight. That package is shipped March-July.

Hi, I'm looking for only 3-5 chickens,not a whole flock. Can you sell/ship 5 instead of 16? I'd happily pay the full price if you would be sweet enough to pick some "different" or unusual chick's for me. High productivity is not that important. I would love to have some Sultans, Silkies etc. And I also like the look of the Barred and Buff etc. (Brahmas??) I am a member of The Palm Beach Fancy Poultry Ass. but have never been an active member. I have extensive knowledge in the care and husbandry of the psittacine species, and I also have a roomy area for them to scratch around safely. Thank you very much.
